Franchisee Success Stories
The people who do best with a Walt’s Insulation franchise aren’t always the ones with construction backgrounds. Some are. Others come from sales, management, or the military. What they share is a willingness to show up, answer the phone, and treat someone’s attic like it matters. If that sounds like you, these stories will feel familiar.
Meet Our Owners
Emily R. – San Antonio, TX
Emily spent eleven years as an operations manager for a regional restaurant group before she hit a wall. The hours were brutal, the margins were thin, and she was answering emails at midnight for a paycheck that never seemed to grow with the effort. She started looking at franchises because she wanted a system, not a startup gamble. What sold her on Walt’s Insulation was simpler than she expected: the phone rings, and a live person answers. She knew from restaurants how much a missed phone call costs. In her first year, she built her book on the Done Right Promise and the senior and veteran discount, which she says opens more doors in San Antonio than any ad campaign. She runs her territory with two crews and a dispatcher, and she’s home for dinner most nights. “I still answer phones at midnight,” she says. “Now it’s my name on the truck.”
Layla H. – Austin, TX
Layla came out of software sales, where she was good at selling things she didn’t fully believe in. That wore on her. She wanted a business where the product solved an obvious problem, and in Austin, a poorly insulated attic is an obvious problem. The heat doesn’t leave room for debate. She chose Walt’s because the training taught her to look at a house the way an auditor does: where the air leaks, where the thermal boundary fails, what it actually costs the homeowner each August. She didn’t need construction experience. She needed to learn a process, and the process was there. Today she runs her location with a focus on attic air sealing and radiant barrier work, and she says the free second opinion on written estimates is the single best closing tool she’s ever used. “I don’t have to be pushy,” she told us. “I just tell people to get another quote. They do. Then they call back.”
Andres M. – Houston, TX
Andres spent eight years as an HVAC technician, crawling through attics in Houston summers that hit 140 degrees under the roof deck. He knew insulation mattered because he saw the difference it made to the systems he serviced. What he didn’t have was a path to ownership. A friend who franchised with Walt’s in another market brought him in, and Andres bought his territory two years later. He runs his location with a technician-first mindset: uniformed crew, background-checked, same team on every visit. He says the lifetime workmanship guarantee changed how he hires, because it changed what he has to stand behind. “If my name is on the work forever, I want people who care about it forever,” he says. Andres has since expanded into crawl space encapsulation and insulation removal, services his HVAC background helped him understand deeply. He still takes service calls himself when the schedule gets tight.
Marisol R. – Dallas-Fort Worth, TX
Marisol was a stay-at-home parent for nearly a decade before she decided to build something her kids could see. She had no insulation background and no franchise experience, but she knew how to organize people and how to follow instructions when the instructions made sense. Walt’s gave her both: a playbook and a support line that doesn’t route to a voicemail. She opened her location in Fort Worth and built it around owner-operator discipline: she rides along on installs, she answers the phone when she can, and she treats every warranty callback like a personal failure. The Done Right Promise, she says, is the reason she sleeps at night. “If something isn’t right, I fix it. There’s no gray area.” Three years in, she runs one of the busiest spray foam and blown-in crews in her county. Her kids still think she works in a truck, which she does, mostly by choice.
